Ethel Humanitarian Empowerment Projects(EHEP) Conducts Landmark Eye Care Initiative in Tongo, Restoring Sight and Transforming Healthcare Access
TONGO, UPPER EAST REGION – September 5, 2025 – The Ethel Humanitarian Empowerment Projects (EHEP) successfully concluded a pioneering three-day medical outreach from September 3rd to 5th, delivering critical eye care services to the community of Tongo. The initiative provided sight-restoring surgeries to 24 individuals and conducted comprehensive screenings for over 400 residents. The outreach commenced with large-scale vision screenings held at the St. Theresa Catholic School, where a dedicated medical team deployed by EHEP evaluated community members for a spectrum of eye conditions, including cataracts, refractive errors, and other visual impairments. A historic milestone was achieved at the Tongo District Hospital, where 24 sight-restoring surgeries were performed.
